The Lehigh Valley Phantoms, an affiliate of the Flyers, have been up and down like a roller coaster all season long, with winning one game and losing the next, and so on. The Phantoms just have trouble mustering back to back victories.

The Hartford Wolfpack won Friday night, in a nail biter, 3-2 in overtime. Massimo Rizzo, and Alexis Gendron scored goals, and things were looking up heading to overtime. Unfortunately, the Phantoms lost their legs, and woolah Hartford wins the game.

It’s good to see Massimo Rizzo play well, and he is starting to find his groove offensively. Rizzo seems to be finding his niche at the right time for the Phantoms.

Game 2 (Hartford Wolfpack)

The Phantoms got a much needed victory over Hartford. Garrett Wilson tallied a short-handed goal, and things were looking up from there. Wilson did add an assist for a two point evening, as well, but Emil Andrae found the back of the net. Rhett Gardner added an empty net goal for good measures, as well.

They have been beaten and battered with injuries, most notably Anthony Richard, who has missed about a month with an injury. Richard should be coming back soon, hopefully anyways.

Game 3 (Bridgeport Islanders)

Anthony Richard finally made his return from injury, just in the nick of time with playing three games on the weekend. Richard didn’t play in a meaningful game since December 5, 2024. He was hurt and missed well over a month of hockey.

Richard adds a little bit of scoring finesse, and the Phantoms could definitely use that. He’s also a good skate, so adding that element to the lineup doesn’t hurt either. Unfortunately, the Phantoms got smoked 5-0, a game in which Cal Petersen got the nod. Nothing went right for Phantoms, a team that looked a bit sluggish.
