Flyers’ General Manager Danny Briere reaffirmed yesterday during his Training Camp press conference that Goaltender Carter Hart, who became an unrestricted free agent following his acquittal in the 2018 Hockey Canada sexual assault case and subsequent NHL reinstatement eligibility as of December 1, 2024, will not sign with the team.

Briere stated that he spoke directly with Hart’s agent, Judd Moldaver, who indicated Hart is likely not interested in returning to Philadelphia due to his personal history with the organization and the potential distractions it could create.
This aligns with earlier reports from mid-September 2025 suggesting a reunion was unlikely, as Hart seeks a fresh start on a competitive team offering significant playing time. The Flyers had previously qualified Hart as a restricted free agent in 2024 while awaiting NHL guidance amid the legal proceedings, but no offer was extended post-acquittal, and the organization has moved forward with other Goaltending options like Samuel Ersson, Dan Vladar, and Aleksei Kolosov.
Oliver Bonk and Jett Luchanko
Flyers’ prospect Oliver Bonk is dealing with an upper-body injury, as confirmed by General Manager Danny Briere during yesterday’s media availability ahead of Training Camp.
According to Briere, Bonk had imaging done on the injury, which surfaced recently, and he participated in a non-contact jersey during yesterday’s practice session. Bonk, who spent the summer in Philly adding weight in preparation for the season, is expected to need time to recover, but no specific timeline was provided. This comes after Bonk’s strong junior season with the OHL’s London Knights, where he helped win back-to-back OHL Cups and is set to turn professional this year.

Jett Luchanko is expected to be a full participant at the team’s main training camp when it opens on Thursday, September 18, 2025, as confirmed by General Manager Danny Briere during yesterday’s media availability.
This follows Luchanko’s precautionary absence from the rookie camp earlier last week due to a lingering groin injury that also sidelined him from Developmental Camp in July and the 2025 World Junior Summer Showcase.
Briere noted that Luchanko is “looking good” and has been progressing well, with the team opting to rest him briefly to ensure he’s ready for full involvement. Luchanko, the 13th overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, impressed last season by earning an NHL roster spot out of camp and playing four games with the Flyers before returning to the OHL’s Guelph Storm.
