The Flyers went off board a bit, with a bit of surprise considering the players that could have been drafted at pick 13. However, the Flyers traded pick #32 to the Edmonton Oilers.
Elick is a native of Canada, but he was born in Villach, AUT. He is 18-years-old and he played for the Brandon Wheat Kings this past season. He scored four goals and registered 23 assists in 65 games played in 2023-24, and he was still on the board at pick #32.
The Rebuild Continues
With the rebuild continuing for the Flyers, it’s encouraging to see the organization building from the net-out. Keith Jones and Danny Briere have preached patience, even with Matvei Michkov’s arrival in the coming weeks.
The Flyers will receive Edmonton’s first round pick in 2025 or 2026. Edmonton then went and selected a hometown native practically in Sam O’Reilly.
