Flyers Final Homegame

There is no denying that the Flyers are in the midst of rebuild, and according to many top brass in this organization they want to do it the right way. It all starts with effective communication, and that is what the top brass has gotten better with-communication with the fans.

Over the course of the 2022-23 season John Tortorella sent out multiple letters to Flyers season ticket holders and the orange and black’s proud faithful for that matter. He was very honest with his message, but at that particular time he was the only one who was in good graces with the fans. Today is a new day, as the Flyers endure a “New Era”.

This letter above could be compared to the New York Rangers letter that their season ticket holders received back in February 2018 from Glen Sather and Jeff Gorton.

Yes, the Flyers have a long ways to go in repairing the relationship between the top brass and the fans, however, this is a step in the right direction. It starts with honesty and integrity, to which all five of the new management team posseses. In no particular order here is the new leadership team of the Flyers, according to the Flyers Board of Governor Dan Hilferty:

Dan Hilferty
Valerie Camillo (President & CEO of Spectacor Sports & Entertainment)
Keith Jones
Danny Briere
John Tortorella

“I have full confidence that both Keith and Danny – together with Coach Tortorella, Valerie and me – are the right leadership team to guide the Philadelphia Flyers. We are unanimously committed to rebuilding and sustaining a winning culture – and doing it the right way,” said Hilferty via a Flyers Press release yesterday.

This process will not correct itself over night, but over time it can and this is a step in the right direction to repairing the damage that was done by the prior regime. As previously mentioned, it starts with honesty, and then maybe Flyers fans can start trusting the top brass again.

  1. I’m in the minority, so be it.

What is with the obsession with the hiring of ex-Flyers? We’ve become a Haven for ex-Players, a Front Office which is never held accountable for their ‘wrongs’ over the past decade.

If Jonesy wants to prove his worth…get rid of the 3 Kings, who, from I see thus far, aren’t going anywhere.

Don’t be fooled by these moves. It won’t be complete until the Top Brass finds positions for Poulin, Pronger, Mellanby, and Lindros…all ex-Flyers. The more, the merrier.

There are way too many patronage jobs in the Front Office. This team needs competent, seasoned hockey executives who know how to build a winning team, not with a bunch of has-beens who didn’t even earn the right to be there.

With bated breath, I can’t wait to see who we select in the draft (hint: it will be another ‘project’ who will be on the 5-yr plan, and nowhere near ‘NHL-ready’ if called upon).

In other words, business as usual in Flyerland.
