Beating the Boston Bruins this past Tuesday night was a great victory for the Flyers. They were battle tested, and the team defense stepped up big time, with limiting quality chances on Samuel Ersson.

The Flyers found themselves clinging to a 1-0 lead through the third period. Tyson Foerster netted the lone goal in the first period of play.

According to Samuel Ersson, the Flyers may have found their swagger once again, “It shows when we grind and play like this, we can beat any team. This is one of those wins that we kind of get our swagger back.” Ersson registered his 6th career NHL shutout, which was a 24 save shutout. It was also the first shutout in Boston by the Flyers since 2006.

The Flyers need to continue their great team defense, and confidence they have built from the Bruins game. This young team sacrificed their bodies with blocking blast after blast, and they were good positionally all night long for the most part.

They have to build off this success, “This is how we should play. We fight, we grind,” Ersson said following the game.

Flyers’ Head Coach John Tortorella offered his thoughts following the victory, “That’s the way we play. We play the type of defense to block shots. For us to stay afloat in the league, that’s the way we have to play as a team. I thought we played better in fives.”

The Flyers next game is on Halloween 🎃, against the ST. Louis Blues
