After a smoking hot few days for the Philadelphia Flyers and their proud orange clad fans, yes I wrote that properly on July 8, 2022. It would be very, very, very hard to replicate that type of success throughout the the draft. Not so fast as Flyers’ General Manager Chuck Fletcher was apparently looking for size once again in Round 3.

Fletcher stumbled upon Devin Kaplan, a Right-Winger who plays for the USDNTP Team, as he stand at 6’3 and weighs 203 pounds. Kaplan is also a local native from Bridgewater, New Jersey.

Kaplan was born on January 10, 2004 in Bridgewater, New Jersey. He breathed, and started playing the sport of hockey practically from birth. His passion for the game found himself playing for the USDNTP Program as he tallied 13 goals and registered 25 assists in 53 games played this past season.

The young 18-year-old prospect worked his tail off in the off-season to improve his game. He is seasoned and gaining experience. Kaplan will play for a familiar University to Flyers fans in the Fall of 2022 in Boston University.

Kaplan has good playmaking abilities, but his skating is the weakness to his game. I’m not saying he’s a bad skater, as he is very good in transition, but it can improve like most 18-year-olds. He still possesses good vision of the ice, and can score in tight areas.

The Flyers are looking for size on the Wing and down the middle, and Kaplan may be the answer to their prayers. His passion and dedication to the game could have instant ramifications in the Flyers locker room. One thing is for certain Fletcher is making sure the Flyers do not get pushed around anymore.
