It’s hard to find some positives with this club right now, as the Flyers continue their winning one and losing one ways. Well the season just got a little more bizarre as Lukáš Sedlák asked the Flyers to terminate his contract so he could return home to the Czech Republic. He was placed on unconditional waivers with the purpose of terminating his contract.

“I made the decision yesterday. It has nothing to do with Philly, the NHL didn’t bring me what I thought it would, so I decided to be with my family.” – Lukáš Sedlák

John Tortorella continued to put his stamp on the roster. The one big move the Flyers completed was they claimed a versatile winger in Lukáš Sedlák off of waivers from the Colorado Avalanche. Sedlák previously played for John Tortorella in 2016-17, and he is a fourth line Center/Winger.

It has become evident, as John Tortorella previously mentioned, with bringing some prospects up from Lehigh that he is still trying to figure out his roster, mainly due to Injuries. Sedlák is familiar with Torts, and it appeared he was able to get his message across in a thorough manner to the other players inside the locker room (Away from the ice).

Sedlák, 29, resurrected his career with the Flyers. Coming from the Avalanche, where he did not muster a single point. He now has eight points in 30 games played (3g,5a) with the Flyers. The 6’0, 205-pound native of Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic has never really made an imprint at the NHL level scoring wise. He’s a versatile player that can play both Center and Wing. Sedlák is a left-shot Center that set a career high with 13 points (7g,6a) in 62 games during the 2016-17 season with the Blue Jackets.

Let’s hope Sedlák and his family are ok. As mentioned above he just wanted to be closer to his family, and no one can argue with that.

Kevin Hayes will be benched tonight, and this is what John Tortorella said of the situation:

“I can’t keep looking by things because we’re worried about scoring. I have to look at the big picture.” – John Tortorella

Hayes has to play the game the right way, or he will continue to ride the bench. His defensive liabilities are too hard to overlook, no one should be exempt from not playing the game the right way.

Tony DeAngelo will play tonight, Justin Braun out
