The Flyers have provided more clarity on Wade Allison’s injury today. Allison’s injury is an oblique muscle strain and hip pointer, and he will be out at least three weeks, per the Flyers. As I reported yesterday, consequently he was placed on Injured Reserved (IR). Allison plays with a physical edge to his game, he is more prone to these types of injuries. I mean he was injured on the seventh hit of the game this past Saturday against the Ottawa Senators.
Wade Allison, all 6’2, 205 pounds of him is from Myrtle, MB, CAN, In just a short time he has unleashed some fury on his opponents, and has become somewhat of a fan favorite. Finally right, after he faced adversity after adversity with injuries during the last three years of his collegiate hockey career. Allison is physical, good along the boards, has an absolute blast, and creates a net front presence that the Flyers could use in the future.
The young 25-year-old in Allison just wants to show people that the Flyers did not make a mistake by drafting him, and that he is healthy. If a person has seen Allison play in prior years, then he or she would notice his gifted hands. He can shoot and pass on top of being a physical guy. Allison enjoyed success for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, and he really enjoyed the pressure of his first year as a professional, after recovering from ankle surgery that kept him out through Flyers camp, and the first part of the AHL season.
Then things began to unravel after he had injury after injury last season. He’s a power forward, and that is quite evident, but John Tortorella has tried changing his game to be more North, as opposed to East/West. Tortorella said last week that if Allison continued to go East/West, then he would “East/West out of the lineup.” Let’s hope he gets better soon, and rights the ship eventually.
Artem Anisimov
Per AHL transactions, Artem Anisimov has joined the Phantoms on a PTO. At least he’s healthy now, and with the Flyers being so thin at Center this was a no brainer. His PTO with the Phantoms is more of a conditioning stint, and he will eventually sign with the Flyers at some point.
Anisimov, 34, has suited up in 771 career NHL games with the New York Rangers, Columbus Blue Jackets, Chicago Blackhawks, and the Ottawa Senators. He has netted 180 goals with 196 assists for 376 career points over a 13 year span.

What exactly will Anisimov bring to the lineup? Well experience for one, but he provides a skill set that gives the youth more time to grow appropriately. He also is experienced with playing under John Tortorella.
