The Flyers lost today 4-1 to a very good Minnesota Wild team. What this does against a top tier team, is show exactly how far away the orange and black are from contending.
Believe it or not, the Flyers actually played well against the Wild, and controlled play in large stretches in the game, “I’m not tipping my cap to anybody,” Flyers’ Head Coach John Tortorella said following the game. He was referring to Marc-Andre Fleury playing very well against the Flyers.
Tortorella also said politely that he does not want to answer questions about Minnesota players. Yup, it was that type of afternoon.
“I feel like I should have made more saves,” Samuel Ersson said following the game. Ersson played well for the most part, as he did not allow a soft goal.
This game shows me they still need more to become a contender, and that’s ok. They are on the right path, and just have to stick to the plan.
They are back in action on Wednesday, as they face the Detroit Red Wings in Detroit.
