The home team welcomes their rival the Pittsburgh Penguins in the “Battle of Pennsylvania” to the Wells Fargo Center. Unfortunately, the Flyers have struggled to score goals and were losers of three in a row. What did we takeaway form this game, let’s get into it.
Lyon the Lion-Rawwr
Alex Lyon was between the pipes tonight and he didn’t disappoint. Saving 35 shots on 37 attempts. He played a stellar game, and maybe the best of his pro career. One save in particular coming early on when the puck was oh so close to cross the the line, Alex turns with his waffle and throws the puck out of the crease, doing so, he has to lift his leg up to make sure the puck doesn’t come back. What a save a great one at that. I certainly noticed that a game like this will be big for a potential #2 spot next season if Brian Elliott is not brought back. We will keep an eye on that one.
Missing players have been found
It’s been a rough year for some of the flyers forwards. Plenty of times missing in action, but some showed up tonight. Travis Konecny, one of the biggest question marks the season, had himself a solid performance while also adding two assists tonight. A much needed game like this was much needed for TK, as he has been struggling. Another player to mention is Kevin Hayes. Hayes adds a goal tonight who has not scored in some time. Noticing these two players getting it back is going to be big in the future. Although, the season may be close to over, it’ll be a good boost going into next.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it
