The Flyers made qualifying offers to five of their Restricted Free Agents yesterday, thus three players became free agents:
Noah Cates
Morgan Frost
Olle Lycksell
Cam York
Ronnie Attard
They did not make offers to Kieffer Bellows, Evan Barratt and Wyatte Wylie. Wylie wanted out, and that became clear last season.
In addition, Ivan Fedotov’s contract tolls and remains in effect for 2023-24. Obviously, this still gives a bit of hope that Fedotov will play for the Flyers at some point, but if they did not make this move, Fedotov would have become a free agent.
After interviewing Wyatte Wylie for two years on the phone. We finally met in 2019 at Flyers Developmental Camp. He gave me a great interview that day, and I wish him and his family nothing but the best.
He deserves a shot, I hope he gets it elsewhere
As indicated in my Flyers Weekly Mailbag back in April. Wyatte Wylie would not be re-signed. Wylie wanted a chance, and I don’t believe he was going to get that in the Flyers organization. It was good for both parties to part ways.
Evan Barratt did not re-sign, as he signed with a German Ice Hockey team last week, the NĂĽrnberg Ice Tigers. The Pennsylvania native had a good season for the Reading Royals last year.
In the end there weren’t shockers, but the Flyers manager to get rid of a few contracts in the same process.
