The Flyers got off to a great start against the San Jose Sharks on Military appreciation night on Veterans Day, nonetheless. Samuel Ersson was again perfect in the shootout, to help propel the Flyers to a much needed victory, after surrendering a 3-0 lead.
Ersson stopped both shots he faced in the shootout, and he now moves to 2-1 in the shootouts this season. His lone loss in the shootout this season was to the Florida Panthers on Sunday night.
After returning from injury. Ersson has been very good. He seems dialed in, and having that one week off to recover from a groin injury has not derailed his play. Ersson has been just as good, as he was before his unfortunate injury.
This young Flyers team has a lot to figure out, but John Tortorella did say they are playing better, “Playing better, playing better. The past few games we are playing better. As each game goes through here, we are playing more of our game.”
Michadelphia
Matvei Michkov made his return to the olineup in great Philly fashion last night. He netted one goal, and one assist, plus he had a shootout goal to boot. “He played good,” Tortorella said of Michkov following the game.
He is now second in points by a rookie with 12 (5,7a), and first in goals with five. Simply put, Michkov is having one heck of a season for the orange and black.
What will happen next is anyone’s guess, but the Flyers cannot take the Ottawa Senators lightly on Thursday night. They seem to struggle with the Senators, after losing both games to them last season 5-2 and 5-3, respectively. The orange and black are in no position to take any tesam lightly, so they have to come out more than determined to win.
