On September 30, 2025, the Flyers announced further reductions to their training camp roster, assigning these prospects to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms:

  • Devin Kaplan (F): Cut from training camp on September 25, 2025, and assigned to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms (AHL). His strong performance in camp, despite not making the NHL roster, suggests he’s a candidate for a future call-up.
  • Alexis Gendron (F): Also cut on September 25, 2025, and assigned to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms (AHL). Gendron had an impressive camp, outlasting some expectations, but his age and development path point to AHL seasoning.
  • Helge Grans (D): Waived on September 29, 2025, after a poor preseason performance. If he clears waivers, he’s expected to report to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms (AHL). This move was notable given his potential to compete for an NHL spot.
  • Ty Murchison (D): Cut and assigned to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms (AHL). His physical style was evident in camp, but he’s seen as a depth defenseman for now.
  • Hunter McDonald (D): Assigned to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms (AHL). He showed promise in camp, particularly with his physicality, but needs more AHL time to develop.
  • Alex Bump (F): Projections suggest he was one of the hardest players to demote but didn’t secure an NHL spot. He’s expected to start the season with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms (AHL) due to the depth of forwards and the team’s preference for veterans like Nicolas Deslauriers.
  • Anthony Richard (F): He’s listed among players with lower chances of making the roster due to his smaller stature and competition from higher-upside prospects. He’s projected to start in the AHL with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, and be utilized as a call-up. He has been waived, with the intent of sending to Lehigh.
  • Aleksei Kolosov (G): Kolosov was competing for a backup goaltender role behind Samuel Ersson and Dan Vladar. His .867 Save Percentage last season makes an AHL assignment to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms possible, and will be a tandem with Carson Bjarnason.
  • Carson Bjarnason (G): Likely cut, as he’s a young goaltender expected to compete for AHL playing time with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms rather than an NHL spot this season. No specific cut announcement was found, but his status as a first-year pro suggests an AHL assignment.
  • Emil Andrae (D): Likely still in camp or on the NHL roster, as projections indicate he’s earned a spot in the starting lineup over competitors like Egor Zamula or Dennis Gilbert. No cut announcement was found, and his strong preseason performance suggests he may avoid a cut.
  • Denver Barkey (F): This was a tough cut for the orange and black, considering he had a great game yesterday. His first shot mentality really impressed Rick Tocchet yesterday.

This move brings the camp roster down to 29 players as the team continues evaluations ahead of the 2025-26 NHL season opener.

These cuts follow earlier reductions on September 24, when the Flyers sent Matthew Gard, Luke Vlooswyk, and Andre Mondoux to juniors or released them. Nesbitt and Gill were both among the Junior players kept longer for extended evaluation, alongside Jett Luchanko.
