It comes as no surprise to many Flyers fans that this current team lacks toughness, grit, and sandpaper. All of which are still important to the physical nature that the sport of hockey is.
Now hockey might not be same as it was say 10 years ago with fights on a nightly basis, but the sport is still very much physical. For the second time in three games a Flyers player, this time star center, Sean Couturier was roughed up, this time by Garnet Hathaway:
Here was Scott Laughton getting flipped like a helicopter or a roll over crash on Tuesday night:
In both incidents not one Flyers player came to the side of their comrade, rather some just stood and stared in disbelief. Last year fans and others alike saw Flyers players come to aid of their comrades, but not this year.
People have seen time and time again Flyers players not come to aid of their own this season. So what is different from this year to last year? Well no one truly knows, this locker room still appears to be tight knit, they are just not sticking up for one another on the ice. Whether this is a coaching thing or not, something has to change in this regard. The opposition has to have some type of fear instilled or these incidents will continue to occur with no repercussions.
Been going on more than this season. Hextall/Hakstol created this culture if turn the other cheek and “show them with their PP”.
AV and Fletcher have kept the same passive bring culture and it’s borderline dangerous for their own players.
It’s obvious this team is anything but “tight knit”, and you can sugarcoat it any way you want, it’s very apparent these players do not respect their teammates or their coaches.
This team is really and truly unwatchable.
Boston, the NYI and Washington all love playing the toothless Flyers. The sad fact is, the Flyers power play is terrible, so teams take liberties with Flyers, knowing they can shut down Flyers PP and cheap shot Philly. It is hard to watch.
BROAD STREET BULLIES,,WHERE ARE U…….?..
They’re dead and rolling over in Snider’s grave.
