The short-handed Flyers played one of the NHL’s not only hottest team, but a top team. The Winnipeg Jets entered Saturday night’s contest on an eight game winning streak. The Flyers were minus Sean Couturier (Minor injury) and Jamie Drysdale (Illness).

Believe it or not, the Flyers had a great first period. Samuel Ersson lead the way, as he made save after save. Cam Atkinson finally scored, his first goal since November 11, 2023, “I threw the monkey off my back and I think I shot it a couple times,” said Atkinson.

Cam Atkinson scored another marker in the second to make it 2-0. The Winnipeg Jets were trying to making a come back, but Ersson and the Flyers had other ideas, “It was stacked up against us. A couple injuries, but we just go out and played. Ersson was strong. He looks big and is so confident. Has a mental presence about him,” John Tortorella said following the game.

“Confidence for me is high right now. I’m feeling good about my game,” Ersson said after making his fourth career shutout. He now is 10-2-2 in his last 14 starts with a .934 Save Percentage. The orange and black needed a big game from Ersson and they got it.
