The Flyers had a busy day of practice, paired with a game later tonight. However, that doesn’t stop the cuts as they trimmed their training camp roster and waived five players, as well.
Waived:
Louie Belpdeio
Adam Brooks
Victor Mete
Rhett Gardner
Cooper Marody
Sent Down to the Phantoms:
Olle Lycksell
Brendan Furry
Matt Brown
All players that have been waived will report to the Phantoms if they clear waivers tomorrow
Matteo Mann has also be sent back to his Junior club
Both Brendan Furry and Matt Brown had good camps. They both should hold their heads up high. Both could be solid recalls in the future, with possibly one of Furry or Brown becoming the next former Flyer Max Willman. To make it this far in camp, and be one of the last cuts about a week until opening night is impressive for both. Obviously, the organization thinks highly of these two, or they would have been sent back to the Phantoms sooner.

Lycksell did not materialize into the guy he was from last camp in 2022. He just could not replicate his overall success from 2022 training camp. Lycksell is still only 24-years-old so there is still plenty of time for him to develop within the Flyers system.
For the waiver players: Louie Belpedio did impress enough to be considered a recall for emergencies if need be, and the same can go with Victor Mete.
In the end, none of these aforementioned cuts should come as a shock. Let’s see how the rest of camp goes. I do expect more roster cuts to happen tomorrow.
