The Flyers have signed Forward Riley Thompson to a one-year entry-level contract. The deal, which begins in the 2026-27 NHL season, has a cap hit/AAV of $1.025 million (with an NHL salary of $922,500, a $102,500 signing bonus, and a minors salary of $85,000).

Thompson, an undrafted free agent, is a 23-year-old Canadian (born August 17, 2002, in Orleans, Ontario) who stands at 6’4 weighs 222 lbs. He plays Center/Left Wing and has spent recent seasons in the NCAA. He played the past two seasons at Ohio State University after transferring from Alaska Anchorage. In 2025-26, he recorded 13 goals and 27 points in 37 games.
- 2024-25: 17 goals and 33 points in 40 games (Honorable Mention All-Big Ten).
- 2023-24: 9 goals and 24 points in 34 games.

Thompson will likely finish the current 2025-26 season with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms on an amateur tryout before joining the organization full-time next year. This adds organizational depth at Center for the Flyers, who have been active in adding NCAA talent. The signing was first reported by PuckPedia and quickly confirmed by me.
