The Flyers have indeed loaned forward Jett Luchanko back to his junior club, the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), effective October 27, 2025.

- Why now? Luchanko, the Flyers’ 13th overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, impressed enough in training camp to make the opening-night roster as an 19-year-old. He became the youngest player in franchise history to debut in an NHL game (October 11, 2024 vs. Vancouver). However, after four scoreless games (with a -3 rating and limited ice time, including being healthy scratched on numerous occasions), the organization decided more development time in juniors would better serve his long-term growth. As Flyers General Manager Daniel Brière noted, “It’s not about how good Jett can be this year—it’s thinking three, five, seven years down the road.”
- Impact on his contract: Since he’s from the CHL (Canadian Hockey League), he can’t be assigned to the AHL yet. This return doesn’t burn a year of his entry-level contract, preserving it for when he’s NHL-ready (likely 2026-27 or later).
- What’s next for Luchanko? Back with Guelph for his fourth OHL season, he’ll have a bigger role—potentially as a top-line center and leader (he was named Storm Captain in January 2025).

This is a smart, patient move for a high-upside prospect who’s already shown NHL flashes but needs reps to round out his game. Keep an eye on him in the OHL—he could be a steal at 13th overall.
