As much as people downed Konecny last year, I believe that he used that negativity to better himself this year and really help out the team. Travis’ teammates speak very highly of him:
“TK is an unbelievable player. He’s an all-star player in this league. He’s arguably our best player, and last year – stats aren’t always a big picture. I’m sure he thinks about it, it’s written about, it’s talked about. I don’t think he’s done anything too drastic to change. I think his energy’s always there; he’s always kind of a rat, and when he scores goals and he’s being himself it just adds to his fuel, and it makes him look that much better. He knows he’s a great player, everyone in this league knows he’s a really good player. It’s great that he’s off to a hot start and hopefully it keeps going.” – Kevin Hayes
Unfortunately, with the good, now comes the bad. Konecny was just placed on Injured Reserve (IR) just now by the Flyers. Now I do not know the extent of his injury, but this is not good news as he was having a killer rebound season.
In retrospect, Elliot “The Destroyer” Desnoyers has been recalled, and will make his NHL Debut tonight. He will wear #73 in his Debut.
Depending on the length of the injury, I wonder if Chuck Fletcher and the Flyers now claim Kasperi Kapanen off waivers. Yesterday he was placed on waivers by Ron Hextall and the Pittsburgh Penguins. He does have a cap hit of $3.2 million, and is under contract for next season, as well.

Torts continued to rave about Travis Konecny, “He had a great camp. He is an important guy, especially with some of the injuries we have here. He has taken on a lot of the ice time where maybe Cam takes some of that and Coots. He has been good, good the first two games.”
Konecny was off to a great start to the season, but unfortunately he will not be in the lineup tonight obviously as the Flyers visit the New Jersey Devils.
The injuries just continue to pile up once again for the Flyers this season: Sean Couturier, Ryan Ellis, Cam Atkinson, Zack MacEwen, and Tanner Laczynski. The injury bug just continues to read it’s ugly head.
