The Flyers have hired another Assistant Coach, and it is Brad Shaw formerly of the Vancouver Canucks. Mike Yeo will head to Vancouver to replace Shaw.
Shaw will be the Defensive/PK coach. He maintains an aggressive style of penalty killing, and this will be different from year’s past with the Flyers with standing around waiting for Hart to make the key save or a player to clear the zone.
Just who is Shaw?
Brad Shaw is familiar with John Tortorella as he worked with him in Columbus. He has been an associate coach for the Columbus Blue Jackets, New York Islanders, Vancouver Canucks, Tampa Bay Lightning, and the St. Louis Blues. Shaw has pretty darn good track record if I say so myself.

He was born April 28, 1964, and is a former Canadian hockey player. Hopefully, he will help the Flyers maintain a healthy penalty kill, that saw them finish 26th in the league this past season with a 75.74 penalty killing percentage. They can only go up from here right?
Kim Dillabaugh (Goalie coach), Daryl Williams, Vinny Yula, and Adam Patterson (Video Coach) were retained for the Flyers coaching staff this week, according to Chuck Fletcher:
“Darryl Williams will be back,” Fletcher said. “Kim Dillabaugh will be back. A goaltender coach to me is always an organizational decision, not just a coach. Adam Patterson and Vinny Yula will be back.”
Ivan Fedotov
The Flyers are aware of promising 6’8 netminder in Ivan Fedotov being detained in St. Petersburg, according to reports. Reports are he tried to evade being drafted into the Russian military to possibly be used in the war against Ukraine.
“We’re aware of the reports and are investigating the situation. We have no further comment at this time.” – Chuck Fletcher
Our prayers will remain with Fedotov and his family until things are ironed out.
