The 2020 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs will be the first time the Flyers will have seen the postseason since the 2017-2018 season. Last season they sat in sixth place in the Metropolitan division with 82 points. In 2017-18, the Orange and Black finished third in the Metro with 98 points, just underneath the Pittsburgh Penguins and the first place Washington Capitals. Their record was 42-26-14.

Captain Claude Giroux finished was the team leader in goals (34) and assists (68), equalling 102 points. Jakub Voracek finished second on the team in points with 20 goals and 65 assists for a total of 85 points. Moreover, Sean Couturier was second on the team in goals with 31, and he finished third on the team with 75 points (44 assists). The Flyers played their brotherly rival, the Pittsburgh Penguins, and unfortunately the Flyers lost in six games in round one to the Pens.

With this new generation of Philadelphia Flyers we have something to hope for. Hoping they get farther than the first and second round. With netminder Carter Hart and Selke Trophy finalist Sean Couturier, I say the Flyers have a nice chance of going all the way. The 21-year-old phenom in Carter Hart is a promising goaltender with one shutout on the season, a .914 Save Percentage, and a 2.42 GAA. Moreover, Couturier in 69 games played this season finished with 59 points (22g-37a), and was voted as a finalist for the Selke Trophy today. The Flyers have a promising chance of having an extended playoff run due to a the budding youth. The Orange and Black have promising young players like Joel Farabee, Ivan Provorov, Philippe Myers, and Travis Sanheim that are just chomping at the bit to get a shot in the playoffs. With the way they have showed up to camp, I think it’s safe to say they have a good chance at making it towards the Stanley Cup.Â
