The Flyers were angry and mad last night, but they got the last laugh against the New York Islanders with a 5-3 victory.

It came with a price, as Ryan Poehling was knocked out of the game in the first period with an Upper Body injury. He was sent flying to the ice, after what appeared to be a targeting headshot hit. Originally, the referees initiated a five minute major, but after further review there was no penalty on the play. The Flyers were trailing 1-0 At that point, and that appeared to be a turning point in the game.

That non-call seem to fire up the troops, as the Flyers just started playing well. They scored a short-handed goal, coupled with a give-and-go goal. They were scoring in every fashion.

“Poehl’s goes down, and that gave us a big ‘F…. You’ to our game,” Joel Farabee said following the game.

The flyers was on a roll. They needed this offense. In addition, they need to provide consistency with scoring, so hopefully this opens up the floodgates in that area. Another big positive to take away is that the orange and black are now on a four-game point streak, as well.

Saturday’s game against the Devils will be a tough game. They have to remain focused at the task at hand, to beat their divisional foe. Hopefully, the Flyers can make it a five game point streak on Saturday.
