This is news Flyers fans do not want to hear. Unfortunately, I have to be a bearer of bad news. The Flyers game between the Washington Capitals and Flyers has been postponed due to Covid-19 issues.
“As a result of a second Philadelphia Flyers player entering COVID Protocol earlier today, game tonight vs. Washington Capitals will be postponed. Decision was made by NHL, NHLPA’s and Club’s medical groups… while League continues to analyze test results in coming days.” – NHL
The issue at hand are the Flyers, and the buck just doesn’t stop with Travis Sanheim, who has been out under Covid protocols since Sunday:
Claude Giroux and Justin Braun have been added to the league’s Covid-19 protocol list. This does not mean any of them are positive, and they are under isolation obviously. The New Jersey Devils have 19 players on that list, the Minnesota Wild have 12 players on that list, and the Buffalo Sabres have nine players on that list.
This is sad news but the health and safety of everyone is far more important, as the Flyers have done a good job at mitigating the exposure in the past few days since Sanheim was out due to Covid protocols. It should also be noted that Sanheim may not have tested positive. This is an ongoing fluid situation and I will update you with accurate information as I get it.
