The Flyers bought out a beloved player in Oskar Lindblom right before free agency began. He returned to a sea of cheers at the Wells Fargo Center as a member of the San Jose Sharks on October 23, 2022.
Lindblom was donning his old number of 23 as a member of the Sharks. He signed a two-year $5 million dollar deal ($2.5 million AAV) the day free agency opened.
Lindblom, for his efforts, is just four game shy of 300 for his NHL career. This is an incredible feat considering all that he has been through over the course of the past 3 to 4 years.
Of course, he won’t crack the 300 game mark tonight as he plays the Flyers, but this is still incredible and Flyers fans are definitely rooting for him. Lindblom is one of those players that will always be loved in Philadelphia, and it has to do with the way he carried himself. He always put others first, and himself second during his tenure as a Philadelphia Flyer. Even with all he went through with battling cancer, he always put people first.
He brightens everyone’s day. The young man in Lindblom is always upbeat and respectful. He gives the team a sense of hope, and is always a ray of sunshine. Lindblom is so strong, and mentally tough.
Really the hope is for Lindblom to succeed with the Sharks organization. He really found his niche towards the latter half of the 2021-22 season with the Flyers, as he netted 12 goals and 13 assists in 57;games played under former Interim Head Coach Mike Yeo. This season with the sharks he has amassed two goals and four assists in 37 games played.
Athletes are human too. Lindblom is always happy, upbeat, and in good spirits daily. I’m sure it was tough for him to get bought out, and it’s also tough for a team to lose that type of upbeat personality in the locker room. Whatever the case maybe, Lindblom will always remain a Flyer.
Team USA
Cutter Gauthier and the Americans were upset against Slovakia last night 6-3.
Gauthier registered two assists in the loss. What an upset. I did not see this coming.
