From puck drop, to the end of the game, the Flyers absolutely demolished the Dallas Stars. At the conclusion of the first. The Flyers outshot the Stars 14-1, with Sean Walker netting the games first goal with just one minute remaining in the first period. This had to be the best period of hockey I have personally seen from the Flyers for the past two to three years. Located the stars into mistakes, and we’re rewarded with the games first goal. Samuel Ersson made a tough, yes tough lone save to end the period (Joking).
The second period was no different than the first period. Owen Tippett scored his first goal of the night off of Sean Couturier’s 300th NHL assist. Believe it or not, the period got even better, with Scott Laughton notching a penalty shot goal. The period did conclude with the Flyers up 3-1.
Things couldn’t get better in the third period, right? Think again, Cam Atkinson is starting to heat up once again, and he scored a Power Play goal to put the Flyers up 4-1. Then magic happened, with Owen Tippett sealing the deal on his second goal of the night. It was arguably one of the best goals I have personally ever witnessed live, as he roofed a spin-o-rama goal. The video below proves it:
“Tip’s just playing. He’s just not thinking, he’s playing. He doesn’t know what the hell he’s doing on that goal, he’s just playing,” John Tortorella said of Owen Tippett. “He has a chance to be something special. I haven’t seen a goal like that in quite a while.”
The Flyers are really playing some good hockey, as they currently sit two points out of first place to the New York Rangers. What will happen for the rest of the season is anyone’s guess, but these Philadelphia Flyers are flying right now.
