The Flyers have finally found their niche, in a bad way, unfortunately it’s finding ways to lose. They continue to struggle to finish games, and are left each game was having a bad period.

Unfortunately, the bad period for the Flyers came in the second against the Colorado Avalanche. They were out shot 9 to 4, and they just looked gassed. The effort is there, but they were lethargic at times thus icing the puck a lot. In addition, they lost those 1-on-1 battles to sustain pick pressure in the Avalanche’s zone. It became clear that they didn’t have it on this night, after leading the first period 1-0.

“In the second period, we iced the puck a lot, and in the first 10, 12 minutes we were in our end, I’m not going to evaluate every player.” – John Tortorella

Cam York, 21, complete one heck of a game last night. He creates offense, and has a knack to get back into the play. He netted his first goal the season, and a 4th of his career last night in the first period to give the Flyers a 1-0 lead. Kevin Hayes again somehow produces, as he produced an assist on James van Riemsdyk’s goal late with the goaltender pulled to pull the Flyers within striking distance at 3-2.

The Flyers penalty killing looks a lot better on this road trip. They are aggressive, attack, and try to disrupt players on the ice. In my opinion they need better personnel, or talent. The losses of Sean Couturier and Cam Atkinson hurt the Flyers while short-handed.

All in all it was the same old song and dance, is the Flyers are now enduring another losing streak this time it’s four games. They lack that finish while losing 2-1 to the Vegas Golden Knights in overtime, 5-4 in overtime to the Arizona Coyotes, and now 3-2 to the Colorado Avalanche on this particular road trip. They continue to shoot themselves in the foot, so Tortorella has every right to be frustrated.

  1. I don’t know how Chuck Fletcher still has a job with the Flyers. There is no point in keeping him around. This is the worst the Flyers have been in the entire history of the franchise.
