On September 12, 2025, Nikita Grebenkin, a 22-year-old Russian right winger and former Toronto Maple Leafs prospect, delivered a thrilling overtime winner in the Philadelphia Flyers’ rookie showcase game against the New York Rangers prospects.

The game, part of the NHL’s preseason rookie series, ended with a 4-3 victory for the Flyers, highlighting Grebenkin’s growing impact since his trade to Philadelphia earlier in the year. He is indeed on the bubble to make the team outright of camp when it opens next week.

Denver Barkey

Barkey stood out in a big way. He cycled the puck well, and scored his first professional goal, unofficially since the game doesn’t count, technically. He will get on the cusp of making the team outright of camp, as well, when camp opens next week.

Sawyer Boulton

Boulton obliterated Corbin Vaughn, then chucked his helmet on the way off the ice. Boulton also threw his hands up in pleasure to pump up the crowd at the PPL Center.

Jacob Gaucher

Gaucher finished the game, an assist away from a Gordie Howe hat trick. Gaucher was dialed in from the start, as he also fought Corbin Vaughn in the first period of play.

The Flyers are high on Gaucher, and they hope he makes an impression at camp next week.
