The hockey world was there for the Flyers and Oskar Lindblom when Lindblom was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma. Now the Flyers will have to be there for the Columbus Blue Jackets as a medical examiner in Michigan said an autopsy has determined that Matiss Kivlenieks died of chest trauma from an accidental fireworks mortar blast.
Kivlenieks, a goaltender for the Blue Jackets was just 24-years-old. He was a third string goaltender who had a bright future, this is just a shame. The Flyers have released their condolences to Kivlenieks friends, family, and the Blue Jackets organization:
When tragedy or trauma strikes in the hockey world, it seems to bring a sense of unity. In this case, thoughts and prayers shall be given to Kivlenieks’s friends, family, and the Blue Jackets organization.
