Last night didn’t pan out well at all for the Flyers. It seemed like they can’t find their swagger, although they outshot the San Jose Sharks. Morgan Frost was scratched from the line up last night in favor of Sean Couturier, and it didn’t work out for the orange and black as planned with the latest benching of Frost.
The Flyers powerplay was very horrific. They can’t score on any powerplay opportunities that come their way, “Special teams killed us once again. It’s not like they were going to go 0-82. It sucks, we couldn’t get out of here with two points, but special teams it’s killing us right now. When lanes are there we are not making passes and not finishing, it sucks,” Sean Couturier said following the game.
Unfortunately, the Flyers could only muster one goal in the second period, right before the period ended. “We know they were going to be desperate. We couldn’t find a way to finish,” Flyers’ Head Coach John Tortorella said following the game. John Tortorella was then asked whether it was tough to take Morgan Frost out of the lineup, “No, no (As he shrugged his shoulders).“
The orange and black had way to many penalties last night. It just wasn’t the flyers night to try to win the game it seemed like they just didn’t want to be out there. The Sharks were winless and unfortunately the Flyers suffered a loss, with what was a winnable game. In addition, the schedule will not get any easier for the orange and black. They have a very rough road schedule ahead of them in California, and they don’t play again until Friday at 10pm against the Anaheim Ducks.
Do not be fooled, the Ducks are good and the Flyers need to find a way to beat this creative team. Now the Flyers need to regroup and need to think how to win on the road. Winning on the road in California has been tough for the orange and black in the past, but let’s see if the Flyers can beat the Ducks on Friday night at 10pm EST (7pm PST).
