Let’s discuss the first half of the season for the Flyers. Yes, Flyers’ General Manager Danny Briere found a way to trade for some change of scenery type players, thus proving to the fan base that this is indeed a rebuild.

Unfortunately, the orange and black were not good in the first half of the season, thus speeding up trades. It has been a roller coaster type season, in a sense, to where the Flyers score four or more goals on one night, but not so much on the next night. Consistent scoring has been a problem for this team for the entire duration of the season, coupled with lackluster gold setting at times, mainly due to Samuel Ersson not being able to stay healthy during the first few months of the season.

What the first half did to the Flyers, it could just be too damaging to move up within the standings. There are just too many teams to hurdle over, in order to make the playoffs. This really proves the Flyers should continue to make trades and acquire more assets, maybe some that could be part of the future for years to come.

It’s really a shame the Flyers are in this predicament right now, when they are getting excellent play from Travis Konecny and Samuel Ersson, namely, but also getting excellent defense from Travis Sanheim and now Jamie Drysdale.

Whatever the case maybe, the biggest thing the orange and black can do moving forward in the second half of the season is further developing Matvei Michkov. Michkov is an integral piece to the future, and if nothing else, continue to develop him appropriately.

Further development Samuel Ersson can’t hurt either, as he is a key cog to the future, as well. Goaltending, will play a large factor to the Flyers, eventually returning to the playoffs.
