The Flyers are going through a really rough patch right now. As of January 18, 2026, they’ve dropped six straight games, including a painful 6-3 home loss to the New York Rangers yesterday (January 17). During this skid, they’ve been outscored badly—31-12 overall—and have looked overwhelmed in several outings.Recent results contributing to the streak:

- Lost 6-3 to the Rangers (Jan 17)
- Lost 6-3 to the Pittsburgh Penguins (Jan 16 or so)
- Lost 5-2 to the Buffalo Sabres
- Lost 5-1 to the Tampa Bay Lightning
- Lost 7-2 to the Tampa Bay Lightning earlier in the stretch
The team has been hit hard by the injury bug, which is exacerbating everything. Key players out or dealing with issues include:
- Bobby Brink (upper body, on IR but nearing a return)
- Rasmus Ristolainen (upper body, day-to-day/missed games, now on IR)
- Dan Vladar (undisclosed/upper body, day-to-day, missed the Rangers game)
- Others like, Tyson Foerster (arm), and more have been sidelined at various points recently.
Even with some guys like Brink skating and potentially close to coming back, the depth has been exposed—goaltending has struggled (e.g., rookie Aleksei Kolosov pulled after giving up 3 on 3 shots in the Rangers game), special teams (power play and PK) have been inconsistent, and defensive breakdowns/turnovers are piling up.

The team is still hovering around .500-ish overall (something like 22-17-8 or close after the latest loss, with about 52 points), but this slide has them slipping in the Metro Division and closer to the playoff bubble in a tight Eastern Conference race. It’s frustrating for fans—feels like the team was in a solid playoff spot not long ago and then everything unraveled.
Head Coach Rick Tocchet and the players are acknowledging the frustration but emphasizing there’s time to turn it around. They need better puck management, goaltending stability, and healthier bodies to snap out of it.

It doesn’t get any easier, the schedule that is, to find their way out of this funk. They play the Vegas Golden Knights, Colorado Avalanche, and the Utah Mammoth the next three games, all currently playoff teams. Hopefully, they get some healthy bodies back like Bobby Brink at the very least, to at least try effectively to right the sinking ship.
