The NHL Draft lottery will take place tonight at 6:30 p.m., and it will be shown live on ESPN.

Fortunately, the Flyers can indeed move up to the number one pick, but they could also fall no lower than the sixth pick. After a season like the Flyers had, Flyers fans are hoping to snag that top pick to make amends, sort of speak, for how bad the season was.

Who would have thought before the 2021-22 season began that the Flyers would have major implications in the NHL Draft lottery tonight. The Flyers have a 9.5% shot at moving up to the number one pick. Most draft experts peg Shane Wright as the top pick in the draft.

Following Wright, there are some pretty good players that the Flyers will have a keen eye for with the likes of Logan Cooley, Jarav Slavkovsky, Simon Nemec, or Matthew Savoie. Low and behold, the Flyers will indeed get a good player, regardless of where they draft numbers 1 through 6.

Barry Trotz

Trotz shockingly became available yesterday. The only question remains is how many teams will be vying for his services.

Trotz, 59, became the New York Islanders coach in 2018, after winning the Stanley Cup with the Washington Capitals the previous season.

Of course, Trotz will now be the top coach in mind for the Flyers. Unbeknown to Trotz he has become the most coveted free agent in Philly. He accumulated 900 wins as a Head Coach this past March, and he became only the third NHL coach in history to do such.

Other landing spots for Trotz are the Winnipeg Jets, Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens possibly, and possibly the New Jersey Devils. Keep in mind Trotz is a native of Manitoba, so there is a link with Winnipeg. Things will be interesting, and these are just some things to keep your eyes on.
