The definition of a leader as defined by the Merriam Webster Dictionary is, “Something that leads.” Well, Jakub Voracek and Claude Giroux continue to be those guys, while playing well Defensively. Much has been made about Voracek and Giroux not being leaders in the locker room, or on the ice. However, Voracek and Giroux have taken their games to another level this season, and they have answered the bell to Alain Vigneault’s calling.

Talk about taking their game to another level, Jake is currently on a six game point streak amassing 2g,6a during that span, and Giroux is currently riding a three game point streak while amassing 1g,4a during that span.

Even with how well he’s playing Giroux does not talk about himself, rather a player that deserves to be mentioned, “He’s (Shayne Gostisbehere) playing really good right now. I’ve been through it. When you’ve had an injury, it takes you longer to get back to the player you want to be. Right now, you can see he is powerful. He’s making plays, he’s great defensively with his stick. When he’s on, he is one of our best D’s. To see him play the way he’s playing right now, and he was off for two weeks, it’s pretty impressive.”

Jake is skating well at both ends of the ice, and Giroux typically always plays well at both ends of the ice. For their efforts, the Flyers are 5-2-1 without their number one Center Sean Couturier, and are 6-2-1 overall. Yes, a lot of that can be contributed to goaltending, but the Flyers are receiving timely points from both Giroux and Voracek.

This team needed their stars to perform, and boy have Voracek and Giroux delivered. Together they both receive a lot of criticism from the fan base at times, but no one can say anything about them now. When injuries occur the team needs their stars to perform. Well good news Flyers fans, both Giroux and Voracek have delivered in the absence of Couturier.
