Remember way back when, In the 2023 off-season the Flyers wanted to trade. Travis Sanheim? For those who can remember, Torey Krug refused to waive his no trade clause to move to Philadelphia.
Thank you Torey, as Sanheim Phil’s a major void for the orange and black. Just imagine this team without the services of Sanheim.
Thankfully, Krug refused to waive it, as Sanheim is now a bona fide number one defenseman in the NHL. He is just having a great season, A season in which he could win the Norris Trophy.
Fir those fans that do not watch on a nightly basis, rewatch the Colorado game on 11-18, and you will see why Sanheim is worthy of the Norris Trophy at the moment.
“It was very cool to hear the news and obviously a huge honor,” Sanheim said after being officially named to represent Team Canada at the Four Nations faceoff in February. “To be able to do it with your best buddy kind of tops it all off and something that I’m really excited about.”
Joel Farabee had to even come out and defend him last night, after Sanheim was named to Team Canada for the Four Nations Faceoff.
Sanheim came to camp in great shape. He looks well conditioned, calm, poised, and has not made many mistakes. Flyers’ General Manager Danny Briere said that Sanheim came into camp in great shape, and was one of the most fittest players in that locker room.
Kudos to Sanheim to putting to rest all the naysayers that said he was a bad defenseman. Sanheim just seems like a different defenseman, and he isn’t being sheltered anymore. The difference is that Sanheim is confident in his game, in a sense, that he knows he can make the right plays. Sanheim has evolved into a number one Defenseman and a leader. It shows on the ice, the proof was in the pudding.
