The Reading Royals have acquired the playing rights to Travis Broughman and a goalie Vinnie Purpura from the Adirondack Thunder, in exchange for the playing rights of Tag Bertuzzi. Both players should sign with the Royals, barring anything catastrophic.
This is a very tough trade for Royals fans, as Bertuzzi is one heck of a player. He does absolutely everything the coaching staff asks of him, and then some. Bertuzzi is physical if he has to be, pots big goals, and is like the Energizer bunny.
Purpura is one heck of a goalie though. He is a top end netminder in the ECHL, and Royals fans will like him when he moves laterally from post to post making a sprawling glove save.
What will happen next in Royals land is anyone’s guess, but for now the roster continues to be plugged with good goalies and veteran leadership.
