John Tortorella may become the 23rd coach in Flyers history. This is unofficial at the moment, but I can confirm per a source that the Flyers have indeed offered Tortorella the position as Head Coach, first to report Kevin Weekes.
This is a fluid situation, as there are a few more kinks to work out in terms of a deal, but Tortorella will indeed become the 23rd coach in Flyers history. Cam Atkinson, if one can remember, spoke highly of Tortorella at exit interviews saying, “You practice how you play. Especially when I turned pro, I learned that from John Tortorella. He was great in that aspect,” Atkinson said.
Tortorella could be officially announced as Head Coach as early as today, or he could be announced as such later in the week. Either way at least this position is short up before the NHL Draft commences on July 7.
