The Stadium Series was a great event for the players, their families, the NHL, and of course the fans. Without the fans, hockey wouldn’t be the greatest sport on Earth. MetLife Stadium was a great host for the Stadium Series featuring the Flyers and the New Jersey Devils, and of course, the New York Rangers versus the New York Islanders. Here are some fun filled facts from the Flyers locker room.

Subs

Subs we’re a huge focus of conversation following Friday’s practice. There was a white chalkboard before the players entered the ice. The players had to vote for what they thought along sandwich was properly named, with choices featuring hero/sub/hoagie/other. I’ve been asked the players are interviewed what their favorite subs were, as sub was voted as the most popular name for a long sandwich by the Flyers.

Joel Farabee- Wawa, Honey Smoked Turkey

Cam Atkinson- Chicken Parm

Morgan Frost- Turkey with bacon

Noah Cates- Italian

Nick Seeler- Italian with hot peppers

Scott Laughton- Italian with mayo, lettuce, cheese, pickles

Travis Konecny yelled next to Cam Atkinson when I was interviewing him saying “Sub, it’s a sub.”

Facts

Noah Cates has now played in his second outdoor game. He told me that he played in one at college that was featured near a river.

Nick Seeler said that John Tortorella’s message is to block shots “I’m going to do it.”

Scott Laughton really enjoys being a Flyer. He loves putting on that Jersey, and he said that he does anything possible to lead by example, “I take pride in being a Flyer.”

Cam Atkinson says that this is one of the best locker rooms he’s ever been in. These were strong words by Atkinson, as the locker room hasn’t been like this for the past few seasons. Noah Cates told me the right word is “Vibrant” when describing the Flyers locker room.

Samuel Ersson told us that his family flew in from Sweden to watch him play in the outdoor game.

Morgan Frost really appreciates his family and friends. He said the support in Toronto last week was absolutely amazing, and there were some people that were in attendance that he didn’t know was going to be there.

Garnet Hathaway was the mastermind behind the players dressing up as Rocky Balboa as they got off the bus, and entered MetLife Stadium a few hours before the Stadium Series game.

Unfortunately, the Flyers didn’t get the result that they wanted after losing 6-3. They are now 1-4-1 in outdoor games.
