Connor Bedard fans flocked to the Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta where the Calgary Flames usually play their games. However, fans didn’t post a near sellout to see the Flames play, they wanted to catch a glimpse of a WHL Superstar in Bedard. 17,223 was the official paid attendance according to the Calgary Hitmen, to see the Regina Pats play the Hitmen, yes for a Junior hockey game where Brett “The Hitman” Hart was in attendance, according to Erik Lyneborg who was in attendance for this game.

Everywhere Bedard and the Pats have been playing recently each stadiums is posting a sellout, or nearing it. This is great for the CHL and it’s fine game, but everyone is trying to get one last glimpse of an up and coming Superstar in Bedard. He’s being placed on the same pedestal as the great Sidney Crosby and Mario Lemieux to name a few, and he’s only 17-years-old.

Just because the game was played in Alberta, this did not mean Flyers fans didn’t flock there to voice their opinions:

I was given the okay to use the above photo by Erik Lyneborg. Lyneborg couldn’t believe the sign, but some Flyers fans are still clinging to hope that they will land Bedard in the upcoming NHL Draft in June. He also had a picture/video of a Flyers fan that was sitting with a Bobby Clarke jersey on.

Either way, the Pats and Bedard won this match 6-5 in a shootout, a thriller for the proud faithful that attended. Unfortunately, for some Flyers fans that still cling to the hope the Flyers will be in position to obtain him at the draft, it’s very, very unlikely. The moment the organization hired John Tortorella, the tanking for Bedard went out the window. He’s a firesome, competitive coach that hates to lose. It just wasn’t in the cards to obtain the services of this rare generational talent.

Kevin Hayes:

Kevin Hayes will be competing in the Honda NHL Accuracy Shooting competition during the All-Star Skills tonight. This All-Star game means a lot him Kevin and his family. He did tell us a week ago it means a lot to him and his family:

“He (Beau) still doesn’t get it. All he cares about is me pointing up to the sky after scoring. He shoots he scored he points up to the sky. He falls asleep with his hockey pants on. He (Beau) is a hockey genius, and his favorite player is Brad Marchand unfortunately (Hayes said laughing).” – Kevin Hayes

Sounds like Beau will steal the show, much like Gavin Giroux did last year.
