Reading, PA – An odd Friday night win, in downtown Reading. Sellar netted a natural hat trick in the 2nd period. Tag scored his fifth as a Royal, the sixth of the season he was acquired via trade for Alec Butcher to Tulsa. An ebug (emergency backup goalie) came in relief of an apparent ankle injury to Worcester netminder, Tristan Lennox following Sellar’s hat trick goal. Taylor Swift Night was the promotion at Santander so a lot of T-Swift music and entertainment throughout the night.

I’d say the Royals were the better club after 20 minutes, the Swifties were a little disappointed their club trailing after one. A Royals killer in past years, Anthony Repaci netted the lone first-period tally. Newkirk had gone in on a breakaway and was stopped, Gahagen was pulled out of his crease and Repaci potted the frozen biscuit home. Railers Captain, Repaci’s fifth goal of the season was at 17:14.

We’ll call this period the “Shane Sellar Show.” Tag and Sellar took advantage of a turnover and went on a 2-on-1 break, Bertuzzi saucered the puck over to Shane Sellar who roofed it on his backhand to knot things up at 1, and at 5:21. Just over forty seconds later Shane Sellar, fired a beautiful wrister top cheese off a bad turnover for the Railers in the defensive zone to put Reading on top at 6:05. Noticing a trend? Shane Sellar found twine again just over seven minutes later at 13:01, a wrister that would cap off his natural hat trick and Worcester’s goaltender, Tristan Lennox’s night. Lennox would be helped off the ice barely being able to any pressure on his ankle. The ebug coming in relief, Joel Eisenhower.

In just his second shot faced, Tag Bertuzzi tallied his sixth of the season with a wrister in the high slot at just 1:21 into the third. Blade Jenkins scored the second and final Worcester goal at 3:55 of the frame. Brayden Guy capped off the Friday night victory with his second of the season, a wrister in between the hash marks at 13:19.
