On what could of been the final game of the season for the Flyers, they come out and steal an Overtime victory scored by Scott Laughton, followed by some unbelievable goaltending by Carter Hart, as well. Letā€™s get into it.Ā

Flyers Come Out HittingĀ

The team needed toĀ playĀ in desperation mode, andĀ you could really seense that in the firstĀ period. This young Flyers team picked up the hitting, along with the Islanders to make for a real physical game. There were a few times Sean Couturier would dump and hit, dump and hit. He even generated a few scoring chances off of the heavy hitting.Ā The Islanders are a quick team, so itā€™s very important to lay the body on them.Ā

VeteransĀ ShowĀ UpĀ

Itā€™s been a real quiet playoffs for Claude Giroux and James can Riemsdyk until Game 5, fortunately they both lit the lamp tonight. Giroux scored his first goal since March 7, 2020, and his first of the playoffs. The frustration was really settling in for him, he certainly needed this goal. JVR has also been quiet, coming in and out of the lineup, but coming off his best game of the playoffs in Game 4. Finally, JVR scored to take the 2-1 lead in the game in the second period. Matt Niskanen also nettedĀ his first goal of the playoffs to go up 3-1 in the third.Ā

Canā€™t Let Up On The Isles

Although, the Flyers snuck in a huge win to liveĀ another day, they certainly let up on the gas in the third period. The Flyers already know what kindĀ ofĀ team the Islanders are, they let them back in the game to force an overtime yet once again. These pesky Isles are a resilient bunch. Itā€™s a bittersweet victiry, but you have to finish games in critical situations.Ā

Thatā€™s my story and Iā€™m sticking to itĀ
