A 28-year-old standout in Sean Couturier has proved to the entire league that he’s a force to be reckoned with. Coots is the heart and soul of this young Flyers team. There was no doubt he was the MVP of the team last year, and it might be because is no stranger to playing through pain.

Couturier played through a torn in MCL in games 5 and 6 versus the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2018 playoffs, and he mustered four goals and two assists in those games.

With the Flyers trying to climb their way back into the playoff picture. Coots will have to endure more pain in this back to back as the Flyers host the New Jersey Devils tonight. It was revealed by Head Coach Alain Vigneault last night that Couturier has a hip flexor injury, “It’s a typical hip flexor for a hockey player,” Vigneault said following the game last night. “As far as I understood from both him and Jimmy, he felt fine tonight. Obviously, no one is at 100%, so he’s not at 100%. But we was good to go.”

Accountability was a strong word that was used this season for the Flyers. Couturier is no stranger to holding himself accountable, and that rubs off on his teammates, as well. Just how much can Couturier give in a back to back as he was seen in obvious pain last night in the 2-1 overtime loss to the New York Islanders.

Someone needs to step up and make things easier for Couturier. It would be nice if Kevin Hayes starts to get going here. Oskar Lindblom is already stepping up, but Nolan Patrick arguably played his best complete game of the season last night. Hopefully someone steps up sooner rather than later as their playoff lives are on life support as we speak.

Sean Couturier prides himself on being the best, but with this injury that cannot be expected, it’s just not fair to him to expect that. He has really taken his game to another level these past few years, and it has given Couturier a ton of confidence. Now he needs someone to help him battle through this pain for once.
