Sean Couturier’s last game was on December 18th, a game in which he tallied one assist. It’s never easy losing your number one Center, and one that plays so well offensively, as well as, defensively. Unfortunately, Couturier had successful seizing ending back surgery today at Pennsylvania Hospital, per Flyers’ General Manager Chuck Fletcher. However, the doctors do expect Couturier to be 100% ready for training camp.
Couturier does a bit of everything and does it well. He is the backbone of this Flyers team, and he is sorely missed. Couturier is a hard player to replace, especially with the versatile player that he is.

Whatever the case may be Couturier is a huge piece to the Flyers overall success. Flyers are well out of the playoffs at this point, so just come back healthy next year and ready to roll.

Fletcher also provided an update on Ellis. He does not know if he will need a surgery, and the Flyers should know something sometime soon.
If I’m a betting man it’s sure sounds like Ellis is out for the season with a lower body injury. For those that forget this is the same lower body injury that he sustained during the pre-season.
“Again, at this point really our focus is on next year, trying to do what’s best for him and for our club going forward.” – Chuck Fletcher on Ryan Ellis
