Scott Laughton has been fined $5,000 for cross-checking New York Islanders Forward Maxim Tsyplakov last night, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.
Laughton was assessed a minor penalty for cross-checking at the 15:30 mark of the third period of play last night.
The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
It’s actually quite amazing that Tsyplakov received absolutely no discipline for hitting Flyers’ Center Ryan Poehling in the head. Honestly, this is quite puzzling.
