The Lehigh Valley Phantoms announced that they signed Sawyer Boulton to a two-year AHL contract through the 2025-26 season this past offseason.

Boulton, 19, played 40 games for the London Knights in 2023-24, and he added a physical element for the team that won the James j. Robertson Cup. he can hit with the best of them, but better yet he can score too. That was made evident on Saturday after he accumulated at least four hits in the second rookie game of the weekend against the Rangers, but he accumulated a goal too. For the weekend, he registered at least 11 hits and cotted a big goal, in route to his fourth line, having the most consistent line this past Saturday night.
Sawyer Boulton comes in at 6’0 and weighs 210 pounds. He is a native of Buffalo, NY. Sawyer Boulton is the son of a long-time NHL’er in Eric Boulton. Sawyer must have received his fighting technique from his dad, but it has paid off thus far in his hockey career. He’s really impressing the top brass, to include Lehigh Valley Phantoms Head Coach Ian Laperrière.
He’s really relishing his role, and really playing with confidence for this rookie camp. It helps that he’s already signed, but he’s pushing for a spot to crack the NHL at some point. Boulton has been an unlikely surprise at rookie camp, “I like him,” Lappy said yesterday.
Alexei Kolosov
Lehigh Valley Phantoms Head Coach Ian Laperrière delved into his side of the Kolosov situation that ensued last season. Lappy said that the guys asked Alexei Kolosov to go to dinner, and he continued to say no. In addition, Lappy said he understands that he didn’t know English well.
Lappy ried to make him as comfortable as possible, and he’s still hoping he comes over.
