Emil Andrae was scratched for the Flyers’ game against the Calgary Flames on December 31, 2025 (a 5-1 loss in Calgary). Andrae, initially, was projected as a defensive pairing for that game:

- Cam York – Travis Sanheim
- Emil Andrae – Jamie Drysdale
- Nick Seeler – Rasmus Ristolainen
Andrae was expected to play, but Flyers’ Head Coach Rick Tocchet decide against it, “Give him a little reset. I think his game has been slipping a bit,” Tocchet said following the game. Tocchet has spoken positively about Andrae earlier in the season, including praising his puck-moving ability and pairing with Drysdale, so this scratching vs. Calgary on Dec. 31 was a bit of a shock for most.

Pre-game reports and game threads, questioned the decision to potentially sit him in favor of veterans like Noah Juulsen.
Andrae has been a healthy scratch at various points in the season, so he’s used handling this type of matter in an impressional way. He bounces back strong from benchings, or being sent back to Lehigh.
