The Flyers are looking to redeem themselves and make the playoffs this season. Well, they are off to a solid campaign in 2019-20. Of course, with some highs, a team encounters some adversity. Well, look no further than five forwards all succombing to some type of injury at once.
One of the questions or flavor of the day was who were the Flyers going to call-up, after yet another game saw two more Flyers Forwards sustain an injury (Scott Laughton and Tyler Pitlick). Well folks, Nicolas Aube-Kubel (NAK), and Carsen Twarynski are on their way to the big club. Finally, NAK gets his shot with the big club this season, as he looks to make an immediate impression in Head Coach Alain Vigneault.
NAK finally gets a shot to make an imprint with the orange and black. Drafted by the Flyers in 2014 in the second round. NAK has been inconsistent with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms this season, after a really strong training camp with the big club. For the Phantoms, he has registered 5 goals, to go along with 3 apples in 26 games played this season. Moreover, NAK can kill penalties if he has too, but his inconsistencies really have held him back from an earlier recall. Hopefully, NAK finds his niche this go around, as he has NHL experience.
Twarynski’s recall comes as no surprise. He has been recalled by the Flyers a few times this season. Twarynski has played solid hockey in his short stints with the orange and black, and really can give depth as a a bottom nine Forward. He has registered 1 goal, dished out 38 hits, had 6 takeaways to pair with 0 giveaways, and 6 blocks with the Flyers this season, after making the team outright in the Fall. Not too shabby, while Twarynski provided energy to different lines that was in desperate need of such.
To Make room for Twarynski and NAK, Travis Konecny was placed on IR. Konecny is able to come off IR after this road trip. Also, Samuel Morin and Oskar Lindblom were placed on LTIR.
Hopefully, NAK and Twarynski can provide a much needed spark to this club that needs it right about now. One thing is certain Flyers fans, the future is bright in Flyer land.
