On December 27, 2025 four Philadelphia Flyers prospects played in the preliminary round of the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship:
- Canada (Porter Martone and Jett Luchanko) defeated Latvia (exact score not widely reported in summaries, but a convincing win).
- USA (Shane Vansaghi) defeated Switzerland at 6:00 PM ET.
- Finland (Heikki Ruohonen and Max Westergård) and Sweden (Jack Berglund) did not play on Dec. 27.

Performances
- Porter Martone (Canada Captain) — Contributed in the win over Latvia, including strong physical play.
- Jett Luchanko (Canada) — Had a quieter game but did great on the Penalty Kill.
- Shane Vansaghi (USA) — Played a depth/energy role in the win over Switzerland, consistent with pre-tournament projections as a physical winger.

All participating Flyers prospects went 3-0 on the day (across their teams). Day 1 (Dec. 26) saw stronger individual performances from the Finnish duo (Ruohonen and Westergård each with an assist in a win over Denmark), while Martone and Luchanko were quieter in Canada’s opener.
Today’s schedule for Flyers Prospects:
Sweden vs. Switzerland 1pm EST (Berglund)
Finland vs. Latvia (Ruhonen, Westergard) 4:30pm EST
