Morgan Frost was rewarded with a new two-year contract worth $4.2 million ($2.1 million AAV) this past offseason. This was a great deal for both Frost and Flyers. He didn’t want to miss one day of camp, thus getting on the bad side of John Tortorella.

Through all the benching’s, believe it or not Morgan Frost played in his 200th NHL game this past season against the Seattle Kraken. Frost was good since his last benching, he’s creating offense and playing very well defensively. For his strong efforts, Frost registered three goals and 11 assists (14 Points) in 15 games played at one point since his last benching (Minus the Washington Capitals game of one period).

“This is the best season I’ve had in terms of health,” Morgan Frost said. “There were a bunch of guys grinding through how they were feeling.”

Frost continues, “I think I’ve matured a lot, and grown up a lot. I think I’ve learned how to handle situations better.”

This clip below shows Frost’s skill set. He has so much talent, and he’s one of the brightest offensive playmakers on the Flyers squad.

Although, this clip above is five-years-old, it still shows just how talented he is. He can make something out of nothing, First just needs to do this more consistently.

Tyson Foerster

Foerster had one goal in mind last Summer…to win a spot on the Flyers roster on opening night. He remained in Voorhees, NJ for the Summer in preparation of the upcoming season. It didn’t matter if he donned a new number of 71, making the team did not change his mindset regardless of the number (Old number 52). Mission accomplished, as he won a spot on the Flyers opening night roster.

It wasn’t all roses for him scoring wise in the early going, but he played very well defensively throughout the course of the season. Even so much so, he was involved in the play more often than not, and his skating became a strength believe it or not. Foerster has been determined to improve his skating since he was drafted back in 2021, but he did find his niche scoring wise, as well.

Believe it or not and Foerster finished year with 20 goals. That was quite a feat, considering it was tied for the third best by a rookie in the NHL. Just imagine if he didn’t struggle early scoring goals, he possibly could have finished the year with 30 or more.

The possibilities are endless with the Foerster. He really proved and showed what he could do on the big stage. Through hard work and determination, his dream in the NHL has come true, and believe it or not, he’s an NHL mainstay now, where some thought he might not be because of his skating.

Matvei Michkov

The writing was on the wall for Michkov to join the Flyers, “I think we will talk about all the options, first of all, with him.” The Chairman of the Board of Directors of SKA, Alexander Medvedev said via Match TV about a month ago, “And we will also talk with the leaders of Philadelphia, with whom we have very good relations. There is understanding, and you will be patient. I think the decision on Michkov will be no later than the end of June.”

Such a change in Michkov coming to North America sooner could be because of the relationship he has with current SKA Head Coach Roman Rotenberg, who left them off the 25 man national team roster for Team Russia. Rotenberg also played a major influence in shipping or loaning Michkov to Sochi from SKA St. Petersburg.

It will take Michkov time to get adjusted to North America, and his expectations are going to be through the roof. However, It will take some time to get adjusted to the rink size, the culture, just the ordinary time of being a professional. My personal projection for his first season in the NHL is 20 goals with 27 assists for a total of 47 points. He should be in the running for the Calder Trophy (Rookie of the Year).

“I want to come to Philadelphia, and I want to help them win a Stanley Cup. I know they’ve been waiting a long time for one. That’s my goal,” Matvei Michkov said when he was drafted. He will have his first shot at it in 2024-25.

A line of Foerster, Frost, Michkov makes sense. It’s a line filled with good young talent, but endless offensive abilities. Frost can create, while dishing the puck to Michkov or Foerster. This is something the Flyers have packed since Jake Voracek was traded.

Of course , Flyers’ Head Coach John Tortorella will do what he wants, but this line could be a dynamic one for the orange and black in 2024-25.
