Porter Martone is off to a strong start at the 2025 World Junior Summer Showcase! He picked up an assist on Michael Hage’s goal during Canada’s split-squad scrimmage on July 29, showing off his playmaking skills and offensive instincts.

Even without getting a shot off in that game, he created multiple scoring chances and handled a tough hit like a champ, returning to play without issue. His ability to read plays and drive offense is really shining through, making him a standout for the Flyers’ prospect pool.
Yesterday, he scored a beauty on a breakaway against Finland, as he proves he’s a finisher. That is something the Flyers have lacked for the past few seasons, a true finisher, sides from Matvei Michkov.
For the WJSS this far, Martone has one goal and one assist in two games played. It’s to my understanding that Martone will not play anymore at the WJSS. Either way, Martone should be a lock to make Team Canada for the WJC tournament in December.
Jack Berglund
Jack Berglund has had a strong showing at the 2025 World Junior Summer Showcase (WJSS) in Minneapolis. As Captain for Team Sweden, he scored a goal in their 5-2 victory over Team USA Blue on July 27, 2025.
His performance highlights his growing presence as a two-way center, leveraging his 6’3 frame and hockey IQ, though his skating could use refinement for NHL-level play. The WJSS is a key evaluation for the IIHF World Junior Championship, and Berglund’s leadership and experience in Sweden’s SHL make him a standout.
Yesterday, Berglund potted two more goals for a total of three in three games played. Berglund has been a key contributor offensively, but it’s defensive awareness. Should get some praise, as well. He’s back checking well, as Berglund continues to have a strong performance with his two-way game.

Heikki Ruohonen
Heikki Ruohonen has been a standout for Team Finland at the 2025 World Junior Summer Showcase (WJSS) in Minneapolis. The Flyers’ fourth-round pick (No. 107, 2024 NHL Draft) has showcased his two-way center skills, combining physicality and playmaking.
On July 27, despite Finland’s 5-2 loss to Team USA White, Ruohonen set up the first goal with a slick move around a defender, earning praise for his offensive drive and forechecking. The next day, he recorded an assist on Roope Vesterinen’s goal in a 3-2 win over USA Blue, with his line alongside Tom Leppa and Joona Saarelainen noted as Finland’s most threatening.
Ruohonen’s work ethic, crease presence, and chemistry with linemates like Aatos Koivu have made him a lock for Finland’s roster at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship. His physical play, including a notable hit on James Reeder, further highlights his competitive edge.
He added an assist last night, his third point in as many games played for the WJSS. Ruohonen seems to be a confident player, and it’s great to see him excelling on this type of stage.
