Porter Martone, a Flyers’ top prospect (drafted 6th overall in 2025), is indeed on fire as a freshman right winger for the Michigan State Spartans men’s ice hockey team in the 2025-26 NCAA season.

Martone has been a standout performer for the Spartans, who are having a strong year. He has tallied 41 points (20 goals, 21 assists) in 27 games, tying him for eighth in NCAA scoring. That’s elite production for a 19-year-old freshman. In his most recent game (February 19, 2026), he had one goal and one assist in Michigan State’s 4-2 win over Notre Dame, including an empty-net goal to seal it, off a steal of Flyers’ Prospect Cole Knuble.

Over his last six games, he’s been particularly hot with three goals and eight assists (11 points). some of his earlier highlights include clutch performances like multiple goals against rivals Michigan, game-winners (e.g., vs. Penn State and Notre Dame sweeps), and strong showings that have him drawing Hobey Baker Award (top college player) buzz.

Martone has transitioned seamlessly from Captaining the Brampton Steelheads in the OHL (where he had 98 points in 57 games last season) to dominating at the NCAA level, helping MSU stay competitive in the Big Ten. His size (6’3, 210 lbs), skill, shot, and two-way play make him a power forward who’s already looking like a future NHL star.
